Constipation is a condition where feces or stools become hard and difficult to pass and it can be caused by various factors but the most important cause of the Constipation is diet. Now you may be asking yourself what kind of diet causes constipation?
Constipation is not caused just by eating some specific kind of food but there are foods that increase the chances of constipation at the same time there are foods that worsen the existing constipation so it is very important to familiarize yourself with the type of diet that can be a cause of constipation.

Diet that is low in liquids and fibers is one of the main cause of constipation specially if such diet is eaten over a long period of time. Fiber is a natural substance that is found in fruits, grains and vegetables and there are two types of dietary fiber soluble or insoluble and you need both of them to live a good healthy life. Dietary fiber helps improve structure of stools and makes the bowel movements easy so consuming diet with very low or no fiber can increase the chances of suffering from constipation.
Diet that is low in fiber can be as bad as diet with low fluids. Diet that is rich with fluids would help keep you safe from constipation but it is very important to understand that not all fluids hydrate your body and there are certain type of fluids that actually dehydrate your body such as alcoholic beverages of caffeinated beverages.
In addition to diet low in fiber and fluid there are certain types of foods that can help in contributing to constipation for certain people. For example lactose intolerance is a condition that make certain people exhibit undesirable symptoms upon ingesting dairy products like Yogurt, Cream or Milk so for someone who is lactose intolerant taking milk and other dairy food items may lead to constipation. Another such gastrointestinal condition is celiac disease which is a inherited chronic disease and person suffering from celiac disease shows symptoms of an immune mediated response that appears when gluten(found in grains) is ingested so for someone who has celiac disease ingesting gluten might lead to constipation.
Above are just some special cases but in general it is easy for one to avoid constipation by taking care of his or her life style and dietary style. Introducing little exercise into ones lifestyle can be very helpful in addition to consuming healthy diet enriched with fiber and fluids and can avoid the risk of constipation.
