Chronic Constipation

Constipation is one of the major reason of doctors visit around the world however Constipation is not a disease and it can be easily avoided and treated at home without any specialized medical treatment. Constipation is not a very serious condition either and everyone suffers from constipation atleast once in their lifetime and it should not be cause for great alarm.

Chronic constipation on the other hand can be a serious issue. Chronic constipation defined as frequent constipation is often caused by unbalanced diet however there are lot of other factors that can help contribute in chronic constipation such as colonic disorders or pelvic floor dysfunction. Colonic disorders cause chronic constipation when bowel movement through the colon is disturbed.

In addition to above general reasons there are other primary risk factors for chronic constipation too that include increasing age and gender. Chronic constipation can also be caused by use of specific type of medication like antidepressants. Most contributing factor to chronic constipation however is same as temporary constipation which is poor fiber and fluid intake that cause dehydration which further leads to constipation. If one does not pay attention to his or her diet he or she can suffer from frequent constipation also known as chronic constipation.

In order to prevent or treat chronic constipation one must pay full attention to his or her lifestyle and dietary habits. Introducing little exercise into ones lifestyle can help prevent or treat chronic constipation. In addition to exercise paying attention to dietary habits and consuming diet that is enriched with fiber and fluids can reduce the risk of chronic constipation.
